Classic Chess offers games against AI, two players sharing one device, and chess problems. A standard board has 64 squares; each side starts with 16 pieces.

Classic chess — How to Play

Choose a match or a problem in the game menu. Click or tap a piece and its destination. In a shared-device game, pass control after each move.

Classic chess — Rules

The match objective is checkmate: attack the opposing king so it has no legal escape. A checked king must be made safe; a player cannot leave their own king in check. Problems have a specified task rather than a full match.

Classic chess — Tips & Strategy

Before moving, check the opponent’s checks, captures and threats. Develop minor pieces, protect your king, and avoid leaving a queen or rook undefended. For a puzzle, look for forcing checks before quiet moves.
