Giveaway CheckersBoard GamesPlay Turkish Draughts — About
Turkish draughts uses an 8×8 board with two rows of 16 checkers for each side. Unlike diagonal draughts, regular pieces move forward or sideways.
Turkish Draughts — How to Play
White moves first. Select one of your checkers and then a highlighted square. A regular checker moves one square forward, left, or right. If a capture is available, you must take it; continue capturing in the same turn when another jump is possible.
Turkish Draughts — Rules
A regular checker captures an adjacent opponent piece by jumping forward or sideways to an empty square behind it. When several captures are available, choose a line that takes the greatest number of pieces. A checker reaching the far rank becomes a king at the end of its turn. Kings move any number of empty squares orthogonally and capture along ranks or files. Win by taking all opposing pieces or leaving the opponent without a legal move.
Turkish Draughts — Tips & Strategy
Before moving, check every forward and sideways capture. Avoid leaving pieces where a compulsory sequence can take several at once. Use the long-range king to control open ranks and files, while keeping your remaining checkers connected.
Turkish Draughts — FAQ
How is Turkish draughts different from regular checkers?
Regular Turkish draughts pieces move forward and sideways rather than diagonally. Kings also travel along ranks and files.
Do I have to capture?
Yes. Captures are compulsory, and a sequence continues when another capture is available.
Can I play against the computer?
The tested game session offered computer play. This QA confirmed a legal white move and an automatic computer reply.
